Let’s get this bit out of the way…..I am choosing to ignore that I’ve ignored this blog the past few weeks
I’m jumping right into what’s going on NOW. With pictures even….
The Naughty Rhinebeck sweater is in the Naughty corner….
It kept falling off my 40 inch circular which made me think….hmmmmm….maybe this isn’t the right size. maybe since I wanted to knit a 38 inch sweater and this is having a hard time with the 40 inch needles….maybe, just maybe, it’s the wrong size. It took me 10 inches of knitting to get this. I was obviously smoking crack when I cast on 8 inches worth of stitches more than I needed. 8 inches. yes. 8 inches too big. frog.
Faced with a frog ticked me off. I didn’t know what to do. Do I get back on the horse? no. Do I start something new? I searched through my Ravelry queue. I played with my stash of yarn and fiber. I ordered new yarn. Yeah. Ordered new yarn…. and finally settled on working on Liesl in 3 ply handspun Corriepaca. It isn’t a new project. I had cast on months ago and abandoned it for some reason. It’s a quick knit and I really just want a new sweater.
But I want a new sweater so bad that I cast on for more….I have a reason. Liesl is in bulky yarn and bulky knitting hurts my hands so I can’t work on it for any length of time so I have to do something else. Shush. I know I have other projects….I want a new one.
This Bacon red is a 2 ply rustic handspun that I’m making a holey top down sweater.
This one is a 2 ply Falkland that will be turned into an Indian Summer Shrug I took the picture last night while it was light out before the cast ons to ensure that I actually got a photo.
It’s not all cast ons though. I actually finished something. I finished my cowl to match my gloves. I used every last bit. All the way down to just 6 inches. It’s perfect and I’ll be so styling this winter with matching accessories. Matching! It’s a first.
You’re nuts. :p I can’t wait for the Rhinebeck fashion show.
Wow, you made me feel better for being so slow about a few things! Matching winter accessories? Wow! Let’s put your pic on the Emily Post site (is there such a thing? I’m such a fashion criminal, how would I know???)
Adrian may think you’re nuts, but you’re nuts exactly the way I am, so phtphtftphtp to Adrian, we win, 2 to 1, so there.
It makes me smile to envision you ordering more yarn….
Seeing you pull out your Liesl is making me kind of want to pull mine out and finish it. I think I’ve only got about 6-7 more inches left to go.
My Rhinebeck sweater started out 7″ too big too. Glad to know I’m not the only one with this problem. Luckily, Kellee set me straight before I got too far in to it.
I the cowl/glove sets – great colours. I’m glad it’s not just me who has trouble knitting with bulky yarn for any period of time.
