Saturday Sky

Exciting right?
We had snow all night but now it’s ice, not quite hail, but not quite sleet either. Just ice. I shoveled some of the driveway and it’s not exactly a chore that I treasure finishing. I have shipments from Thursday’s update going out and that means I need to get at least a decent path done by noon.

In between the shoveling I thought it would be a treat if I could knit. I read over at Chris’s Blog that there is a green sock knit along.
greensockknitalongOk, I knew there was a knit along but I never checked the rules. There aren’t really any rules except that the socks should be green. I know I shouldn’t be casting on yet another new project but I really wanted to knit green socks (I’m easily swayed).

This is my green yarn:

Obvioulsy the knit gods are punishing me for casting on yet another sock. I might have to burn the yarn in sacrifice to appease them.

Nope, you’ll just have to give the socks to the appropriate goddess. Me.

    :p

  2. Dianna says:

And top ‘o the mornin’ to ye, Lassie! On this green day it should be fitting to start green socks! Perhaps some shamrocks knit in there somewhere…..

  3. Jennifer says:

Happy St. Patty’s day! I hope some leprechauns clear up that yarn pile for you.

  4. I had a carefully wound ball of STR go rogue on me on New Year’s Eve. It was like something out of a horror movie…

Isn’t this some delightful weather? Sheesh!!

  5. Brenda says:

I just came in from shovelling this leaden snow. It’s NOT fun! Good luck getting your path cleared.

  6. Gina House says:

What a great green….like St. Pat’s Day cupcakes I saw in the supermarket!

  7. Heather says:

ug. I have a skein that is similarly punishing me (although I won’t say which one;) ). Back away from the skein slowly, and go re-examine the stash. There must be something else green in there!

  8. Arleta says:

Happy St. Paddy’s Day. Nice green color, too bad it’s naughty yarn. hehe

  9. Zonda says:

Great looking green color! Don’t envy you the winding of it though!

  10. Amy says:

Nice color but bad yarn! Bad! At least you can stay warm while you rewind the skein.

  11. Sara says:

You have much more patience than I do because by now I would have tossed the yarn into a bag and hidden it in my closet!!

Be careful on the rest of the driveway… this snow is heavy! Is it raining there?

  12. LaBean says:

Oopsie. I hate when that happens. I just happened to dye some fiber GREEN. I had some yarn dyed green but used it already for another project.. Green socks huh? I think that’s a can-do!

My sky looks the same way.. dreary. Yuck. Hope you made it to the PO.

  13. bookgrump says:

    What yarn is that?

I’ve come to a horrible realization. I don’t have any green yarn in my stash.

  14. Nan says:

SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU HAVE TO SHOVEL WE ARE ALSO HAVING A COLD SPEEL IT WILL ONLY REACH 70

  15. Coleen says:

oooh! Saddy green yarn! It looks so pretty. I hope the yarn gods are kind and come to your aid in untangling!

  16. Lia says:

Yikes! It’s a lovely color, though.

  17. Julie says:

Well, it is pretty green yarn even if it isn’t being nice!

The snow really sucked, didn’t it?! At least I didn’t have to shovel it – I sat in the nice warm house while hubby, daughter, and daughter’s boyfriend shovelled. I didn’t even feel the least bit guilty :)

  18. anj says:

Well, you could save it for me to unwind when I get there. I know it is 5 weeks away, but I promise to fix it. The weather this weekend was wild. UGH!

  19. Corvus says:

Beautiful yarn. Horrific mess. I sympathize.

  20. Weaver says:

I went to too yarn stores looking for green sock yarn and came home empty handed. Guess I’ll just have to dig into some of the potluck yarn that I got with my last order (three of the four skeins have green in them, you picked good!) Or maybe the green shawl I’m weaving will count? :)

  21. Joni says:

Oh no! That looks about like what happened last weekend when I went to wind a ball of yarn. I put the hank on my knees, started to wind the ball, and had to literally throw it all aside when Teresa got sick again. Mine was worsted weight though, so it was easier to untangle. Have you been able to fix the green spaghetti back into a lovely ball of yarn?

You’re tempting me, I could go for a pair of green socks too. I realized in preparing for St. Paddy’s day that I have like, almost no green clothing. That’s kind of ridiculous right?

  22. del says:

LOL, I hope the gods will decide to have mercy on you!

  23. PuppyMomma says:

Soooo, what’s the yardage on this stuff? Its untangled now.
