Spinning Challenge – Silk hankies

Hey Y’all.
I just got done with my Instagram Live video talking about a few things… mojo and the lack thereof was the big statement I had to talk about. I remember in the early 2000’s I used to post challenges and help people complete them.

I want you to spin!
I want to spin!
I think challenges might help us all with our mojo.

Skip any challenge you don’t like but play along in the ones you want. Or challenge yourself to do them all. Which is where I am at.

The first challenge I’ve handed out is silk hankies.

Like ’em, hate ’em? I’m kind of ambivalent with them. When I go for new fibers I’m usually thinking sweaters. Big sweaters. I want a massive amount. But I don’t want a sweater made from silk hankies. I can see myself weaving a jacket from it though…hmmmm

Anyway. Right now, I’ve grabbed a small amount of hankies from my stash and I’ll be spinning them. In the video I’m showing them on a spindle and maybe not as deftly as I could but you get the idea. I’m going to blame my shoulder pain but really it’s more like I haven’t been spinning hankies in a while and they do behave differently then wool.

My goal is to spin enough hankies for a new little woven bracelet.

Are you joining me?
Got an idea for a different challenge?
Tell me about it all.

I’ll post new challenges every few weeks so if you don’t hop onto this one, wait a couple of weeks and I’ll post a new one that maybe you’ll enjoy.

I am so in that place right now. Have been for several months. No matter what I pick up I seem to find my mind wandering and my hands idle. I am going into my stash and I am going to find some fiber that I have just thought to pretty to work with and I am going to spin it. Thanks, I have felt kind of lost without my spin/ knit focus

I have one of your braids from awhile ago out and ready to spin. I can’t remember what type of wool it is , but the color is Sharks in the Water! Best color name ever 😂 Thanks for the push!
