Show and Tell time

SPA 2009
It was great to see you all and I had a truly fantastic time.
The far left is a Friend’s Folly Farm Pounder and the other little bags are Alpaca/merino/Bamboo blends from Flaggy Meadow Fiberworks. I’m having a real hard time deciding what to spin first. I want to push that pound of FFF fiber ahead of everything else. I’m still not sure what I want to do with the Flaggy Meadow stuff but I knew I had to have it. I also placed a special order with Kim of The Woolen Rabbit and I’ll blog that when it comes.

Amazon Kindle
I got it before SPA and I love it to pieces. Why?
1. Holds a ton of books
2. Easy to carry around and light
3. I can spin or knit while I read which isn’t easy to do with a book.
4. It can hold patterns – you can make notes and whatnot
5. It has a reading function
6. It will hold music or audio books
7. Lots of books I like are cheap or free
8. Did I mention it’s easy to transport
9. I can get my newspaper on it.
10. It’s not back lit. Computers make my eyes hurt in a short amount of time, this doesn’t.
I could go on and on and on. And I have but I’ll leave it for now.

Sherie is the sweetest.
She made me these. I’m a very lucky Boogie. It’s an absolutely sweet blend. I can’t wait to dig in. When I got this, I wanted it to jump just in front of the FFF stuff or maybe spin it at the same time since I can do more than one project at once. I may need more bobbins.

I took a braid to do a shop sample. It’s Light BFL in “Capricorn”. The spindle is a Lady Barbara from Greensleeves in Bois de Rose and Redwood Burl. I should be putting up a new batch of her spindles this week.

Another Bag
I don’t blog about every bag I get. I have a great love for bags. Judy didn’t have a very tough job of convincing me that this bag at SPA is the one I HAD to have.
I got it from Unique One and I love it. I haven’t even filled up all the pockets yet. That’s right, I didn’t find enough junk to fill in the pockets. Don’t worry though, I’ll find stuff eventually.

Someone that shall remain nameless kept telling me that I needed to get the Argyle sheep up on Cafepress. So I did.
Here’s the Cafepress Store.
I didn’t put a mark up on anything so it’s all base price. I haven’t spent a lot of time on there and may not. I mostly wanted them for me but I figure you all can have some too if you want. I love my little argyle sheep. He looks so manic.

  1. Wow, pretty fiber!

Can the Kindle backlight if you wanted?

    What, no “spindle slut” thongs?

You’re going to have to tell Ericka all about your Kindle – I just let her know that Amazon released an iPhone Kindle application this morning.

  3. PuppyMomma says:

Beautiful haul. Not too little, not too much.

    ps. How’s the husbeast’s eyes?

  4. Manise says:

Great seeing you too! And many thanks for the BFL to wrap my wee spindle in for the ride home. Spent some time spindle spinning some of that fiber up today. Awesome stuff- soft and beautiful natural colors. You should start with the 3F pounder! Awesome colors as is the “Capricorn” light BFL! How did I miss that braid?

  5. Sara says:

I need some more Friends Folly fiber although I should probably spin up what I’ve already got. LOL They’ll be at Commonground Fair, though, so I can get my fix.

    And I can’t get a Kindle… I can’t get a Kindle… I can’t get a Kindle…

  8. wendy says:

    Wow what a great haul!
I would totally spin the pounder
BUT I have to tell you…You’re so evil….I totally don’t want a Kindle. No, I don’t even if #3 is totally haunting me…Argh

  9. Susie says:

Isn’t the Kindle the best? I’ve had mine for over a year now and I never leave home without it.

  10. Ann says:

I love my Kindle. No more deciding which books to bring. I just bring them *ALL*. I’ve taken it with me on all my travels. When going to the Solomon Islands, the rest of the group had to decide what to take and what to ditch given the luggage weight limits, I had it all on just one little package. It was bliss.

  11. Peita says:

Wow Amy, for being tired you got a lot done! I love the gorgeous singles you spun up. I plan to try that soon.

You are a lucky Boogie because those are some beautiful batts Sherie made for you.

I love my Kindle2 also and I passed on my K1 to my daughter who loves it as well. I tried to get my husband interested, and he really tried for a few weeks, but finally he said he would rather I gave it to our daughter. Not a gadget guy, obvously.

I can’t knit or spin while reading though, audio books are great for that, but Amen on those other things on your list.

lovely fiber! i just got a bunch of amazon money and think i am going to order a kindle as well. that’s good to know that you can put patterns on it as well as audiobooks. will have to figure that out once i get it. one of the main reasons i wanted to get it was so i could read and knit at the same time, too. :)

  13. Tjen Penger says:

It’s really affordable, I love it!
