I’ve got nothing of my own to show off but I do have the work from a new spinner. Check this out:
She broke the rules by not doing much for drafting but I can’t expect that much out of a 2 year old. She is obsessed with the wheels and spindles. She likes to carry around a spindle and doesn’t want to hit anything with it, generally she wants to wrap it up with fiber or just hold it. The wheels, she pulls up a stool and treadles. She’s really good about getting it going in the correct direction (when she remembers which one that is).
She’s been begging for weeks to make yarn so I pulled out some pencil roving and sat next to her as she fed the wheel. I was amazed at how well she did. Now she has the bug. All the time it’s “Where’s MY wheel” and “I want to make yarn”. Already this morning she’s been at the wheel:
When I can’t sit with her to make yarn (I need to keep making sure the wheel is going in the right direction as she likes to stop often and feel the wool) she sits and treadles.
She settled in and got really comfy treadling Saturday night:
Gotta love that sloth spinning technique she’s working on.
Oh my, it’s too cute! All it means that if a 2 year old can spin, I should not be as afraid of spinning as I am.
“Gotta love that sloth spinning technique she’s working on.”
She got the spinning from you and the technique from me.
This is, as the kids say these days, made of win!
How awesome is that?!?
My just turned 3 year old really wants to spin and knit. She likes to try and treadle but finds my Lendrum DT too big. She keeps insisting that the old slightly broken flax wheel that I have is hers. I think I might try and get it stable enough for her to treadle as it’s really small.
CUTE beyond words!!!!!
Hahaha, her spinning is better than mine! :)
that is just freakin’ fantastic!
and my sloth technique is similar.
How freakin’ awesome is that!! Not to mention adorable.
Oh, I’m so jealous! Talk about learning at the knee of the Master!
I want to learn!!
Awww! That is so sweet!
OK, her yarn is fantastic!! And the pics are totally adorable. Sloth spinning! LOLOLOL
This may be the cutest thing I’ve seen in a year, which is saying something, cuz I like baby animals A LOT.
I think her spinning looks better than mine!! Good job, she looks pooped now.

Incredibly cute pictures. :) Give her my compliments on her spinning. :D
HaHaHaHa! Those are the greatest pictures, glad to see she’s following in your mighty big footsteps :) Sloth technique is brilliant!
Way to go! You converted another one :D She is too cute, and that wheel is just the right size for her.
She is too cute. Her yarn looks great & squishy.
I love Husbeast’s comment :-)
BB’s first yarn looks a lot better than mine did (and better than a lot of mine does now). She was so cute today sitting at the wheel treadling. When I got home and started spinning, Clover was watching me and I assured her that it wouldn’t be long before she’d be spinning too ;-)
sloths are so cute!
as is your new spinner!
Oh wow – world’s cutest spinner!
That is so sweet! My little girl wants to spin so bad but doesn’t have the patience haha.
Go, Boogie Baby! Awesome child, that one!
Awwwww! It must be a Libra thing. ;) I want to spin on a wheel, too, and I’ve been carrying my spindle and fiber around for a few days, spinning and stopping to feel the wool. She’s adorable and her yarn looks great!
I love that sloth spinning! Why can’t I get comfortable that way? I tend to slouch in the OTHER direction….lol…so great for Baby Boogie!
Oh, too cute! I guess she can’t help but absorb the spinning “itch”.
How sad is it that your 2 year old’s yarn is about the same as mine!
Boogie Baby Rocks! She’s obviously inherited her mom’s talent and good looks.
She is too cute :)
Way to go!
My six-year-old wants to learn but I’m not sure how to teach him, I’m a rather new spinner myself.
BTW, I got the latest club fiber today, gorgeous, thanks!
You’ve got a green thumb when it comes to kids, honey! Raising champions, you are!
She’ll be the next SOAR scholarship girl and then you’ll have to go as her chaperone:-)
Too, too cute! So clever – her yarn is fantastic.
Your little one is so cute!
I love it!
That’s so awesome. I’ve gotten my 3 year old interested, but nowhere near that level! :P
Oh that is awesome! I am going to try the sloth technique tonight…it looks much more comfortable than the way I do it!
Hey, that’s great. Someone to inherit your stash who might actually use it.
What a cute new spinner!
That is the best thing I have seen in like forever!
I was leaning back like that to spin last night… my yarn ended up looking like crap. Baby Boogie has got some mad skills!
Adorable!
I had a very similar post the other day about my 5-year-old. I, however, didn’t think about pencil roving. I think we’re going to have to get some!
She is adorable!
OMG, she is too cute! She’s going to be an expert at spinning when she gets older.
